Biography

Sara Marcketti, Ph.D., serves as Assistant Provost and Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at Iowa State University. Under her leadership, CELT launched Iowa State Online, reached every academic department at the university through the Annual Student-Centered Learning Workshop, and provided leadership in a re-organization that quadrupled staffing to best support teaching effectiveness and student learning. 

Before her current role, Marcketti served as a faculty member in the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management, Associate Director of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and as Curator of the Textiles and Clothing Museum. Currently a Morrill Professor, Dr. Marcketti continues to publish dress history and SoTL research, including five books, over 100 peer-reviewed publications, and earning awards such as the ITAA Teaching Excellence Award and Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the ISU Alumni Association. 

Marcketti is a native of New York and earned her B.S., M.S. from the University of Georgia, and her Ph.D. with honors from Iowa State University.
