David W. Andrews, Ph.D., is a lifelong educator committed to equity and access through personalized student-centric approaches. He currently serves as Chancellor, UMass Global, leading its transformation and growth toward U.S. and international prominence in serving working adult learners. He served as President of National University from 2016 to 2021.
Prior to serving at National University, he was Dean of the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. While at Johns Hopkins, he led the design, build, and start of the first new public school (PK-8th grade) in East Baltimore in over 25 years. During his 15 year tenure at The Ohio State University, Andrews led a merger that resulted in the creation of the College of Education and Human Ecology and was the new college’s founding dean. His scholarly work has focused on intervening in the life course of high-risk and difficult-to-serve students.
Andrews holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Auburn University, a master’s degree from Kansas State University, and a Ph.D. from Florida State University.
