Biography

Dr. Evans is the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. She is a graduate from the University of Alabama with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision specializing in Student Affairs, Administration in Higher Education and Human Resource Management. Dr. Evans is currently serving as Chair of the Carver Cultural Community Center Development Board and the Chair of the San Antonio Commission MLK Scholarship Committee. She has been in private practice and a community consultant since 1993, working with organizations such as United Way, Communities in Schools, AVANCE, Baptist Children Home Ministries, Project “ACCESS”, Communities  Organized for Public Services (COPS), Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA), and Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF).

Dr. Evans is a Past President of the American Counseling Association, which has a membership of over 55,000. A sampling of her awards includes being selected as Outstanding Multicultural Leader Award and a Yellow Rose of Texas Lifetime Educator Award.

Dr. Evans has authored numerous articles and book chapters, focusing on issues of diversity, multiculturalism, women’s issues, and leadership. She recently co-edited a book: A Counselor’s Guide to Working with Men in Counseling. She has over a hundred presentations at the state, regional, national, and international levels addressing topics such as empowerment, multiculturalism, diversity, and leadership.
