Dr. Anne Skleder, tenth president of Brenau University, has launched the university’s next round of strategic planning and has guided the university during its decennial review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Under her leadership, Brenau elevated its Department of Psychology to the Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling. Dr. Skleder recently announced the establishment of the Miller Institute for Global Education, which will expand study abroad opportunities for Brenau students.

Dr. Skelder is actively involved in a number of national and regional organizations, where she represents the interests of Brenau University and private institutions. She serves on the executive committee of the Atlanta Regional Council of Higher Education and the Georgia Independent Colleges Association.  She is a trustee for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and is a board member for the Women’s College Coalition, and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

Before joining Brenau in 2019, Dr. Skleder served as senior vice president, provost and professor of psychology at Wilkes University. She has held multiple administrative posts in the academic, enrollment and planning areas and has presented nationally and internationally as well as published on a wide variety of topics.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in social and organizational psychology from Temple University. She also completed Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management.
