Biography

John leads education sector investing for TPG’s Rise Fund where he developed the fund’s global strategy including a focus on higher education and workforce education.

The Rise Fund, TPG’s $19B impact investment platform, is the world’s largest social impact investment platform. Since the Rise Fund’s launch in 2017, John has led investments in higher education through InStride, the Burrell and Idaho Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the International Medical University and Asia Pacific University and co-investment partnerships with Arizona State University and Rice University.

John has over two decades of investment experience leading over two dozen investments in the education, healthcare, and technology-enabled services sectors. Previously, John was a founding partner of the Bridges Ventures’ U.S. Sustainable Growth Fund, a Partner and Group Head leading education and healthcare investing with Gryphon Investors and a Vice President with DB Capital Partners.

John holds a BA from Yale University, an MBA from Stanford University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
