John Childs

Biography

Dr. John Childs is a Co-Founder of Evidence In Motion (EIM) and partner in Confluent Health, which includes EIM, a network of 625+ outpatient physical therapy centers in 35 states, and Fit for Work, which provides workplace injury prevention services focused on reducing workers’ compensation claims. A Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (1994), he completed a Masters in Physical Therapy from Baylor University (1996), an MBA from the University of Arizona (2000), and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh (2003). Dr. Childs is a board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (Emeritus) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapists. Having served 20 years in the Air Force, Dr. Childs has collaborated on more than $10 million in grant funding and published more than 150 papers in leading scientific journals. Dr. Childs’ work has been featured in numerous national print and television media outlets. He served 10 years as Associate Editor for the journal Physical Therapy and the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Dr. Childs has received numerous research, education, and business awards, including being an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist and San Antonio “Health Care Hero.” He is also the youngest-ever Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association, the profession’s highest honor recognizing individuals for professional excellence and making a profound impact in advancing the profession.
