Horacio Sosa

Biography

Dr. Horacio Sosa is the President and CEO of Rowan Global Inc. (d/b/a Rowan Education Partners) a nonprofit, nonstock corporation recently established by Rowan University to provide operational and administrative services and support to postsecondary institutions. 

With over 30 years of experience in higher education as an educator, researcher, and academic leader, he holds a master’s and doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, and a certificate in executive administration from the Wharton School.

Dr. Sosa joined Rowan University in late 2006, as Founding Dean and later as Vice President of the Division of Global Learning & Partnerships and was responsible for the creation of Rowan Online, degree completion extension programs for adult learners, and multiple educational and training partnerships with corporations and nonprofit organizations. 

In 2018 he became Vice President of Strategic Ventures & Initiatives to spearhead University wide projects culminating in the establishment of a school of veterinary medicine (first in New Jersey), an industry-based esports center, and multiple exploratory transactions with for-profit and nonprofit colleges and universities.  

Prior to his administrative career, Dr. Sosa was a faculty member at Drexel University with teaching and research interests in advanced materials and structures, classical physics, and applied mathematics. He has been a visiting professor at universities in Japan, Spain, and Argentina, and was awarded with fellowships from Argentina’s National Commission for Atomic Energy, Argentina’s Navy Research and Development Service, Spain’s Ministry of Education, NATO’s Collaborative Council and Fulbright.

Dr. Sosa has served on the boards of several educational and professional organizations. Beginning in 2013, he has regularly served as a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
