Chris Ruhl became Purdue University’s Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer on January 1, 2020. Ruhl serves as Treasurer of the Purdue Board of Trustees, as approved on December 6, 2019.
In his role, Ruhl is charged with managing Purdue University’s budget of more than $2 billion and overseeing all financial affairs, business services, human resource services, information technology, treasury, marketing, communications, and internal audit functions. Ruhl reports directly to Purdue President Mung Chiang and the Board of Trustees and serves on Purdue University’s Executive Leadership team. Ruhl chairs Purdue University’s Investment Committee, overseeing Purdue’s multi-billion-dollar endowment. Currently, Ruhl also serves as interim Chief Executive Officer for Purdue University Global, Purdue’s land grant online university serving more than 36,000 working adults.
Prior to this appointment, Ruhl served as Purdue’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and CFO for Purdue University Global. Ruhl came to Purdue University in 2017 from Ivy Tech Community College, where he was CFO and General Counsel. Ruhl also served as Director of the Indiana Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Director of the Indiana State Budget Agency, and Policy Director and General Counsel for the Indiana OMB under Governor Mitch Daniels.
Ruhl holds a Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.
